Landscaping Mulch
Bourn Tree Experts sells raw landscaping mulch by the dump-truck load (approximately 3 cubic yard box) at $65/load plus any potential delivery surcharge. For an additional hourly fee, we will also spread the mulch chips around in your flower beds.
Landscaping mulch is not just for decoration, it also serves a purpose. By applying a 2 - 4 inch layer of mulch you are providing an insulating cover layer for your trees, shrubs, and plant beds. Their roots will say cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
Benefits of Mulching:
- Keeps moisture in your soil, which means you won't need to water your plants or shrubs as often
- Helps control weeds, prevent soil erosion, and regulate the temperature in your plant beds
- Vital nutrients are slowly released into your soil as the mulch breaks down over time
- Keeps soil from splashing onto your leaves, which help prevent soil-borne fungal diseases
- Looks visually appealing and gives your yard a well manicured appearance
Mulching Tips:
Leave a little breathing room between the mulch and the base of your tree, because when mulch touches the tree it can lead to potential problems with insects and fungal diseases due to the constant moisture on the tree trunk. When spreading mulch around your trees make a donut shape so that the mulch is not in direct contact with the tree trunk. Once you are done spreading, deeply water the areas you mulched. Mulch helps form a protective covering for your planted areas; so by giving them an initial drink your trees, shrubs, and plants can get off to a good start for the season.
